Free and Reduced Meals

Free meals and reduced price meals are available at all schools.  All Stafford County children who received these meals are covered on the application on file from last year until October 1 of the new school year. It is the parent's responsibility to reapply during this 30-day period (by October 1) or the child will go to a paid status.  We encourage families that are approved for Free or Reduced Price meals to eat breakfast daily and order bag lunches through the cafeteria on field trip days or other school outings. Free and Reduced price meal status can apply for at any time during the year including short-term family hardship.

Elementary Charges

Charging a meal is a privilege and should only be used in an emergency. It is the families responsibility to monitor their child(ren) account balance(s). Charges are expected to be paid the following school day. Parents are highly encouraged to monitor their childs account activity and balance on line using MyLunchMoney.com. This viewing service is free of charge to parents.
Stafford County School Nutrition utilizes an automated negative balance phone call system to help communicate charges to parents. Charging of ala-carte items is not permitted.   If a student has an unpaid negative balance the students “treat” money will be applied to the unpaid charge.

Elementary and Middle School students may only purchase ala-carte or extra food items with the purchase of a meal. Dessert is .50 with a meal. Free dessert coupons are given to all school breakfast eaters the last day of each week.

Stafford County School Nutrition utilizes ENVISION Check recovery system for all insufficient fund checks. All fees apply.

Pre-Payment of Meal

Pre-payments are encouraged as they result in faster lunch lines and more time for children to eat. Prepayments can be made on line using MyLunchMoney.com Parents will need to use your childs school identification number to access their childs account. Viewing and monitoring your childs account on line is free of charge. Parents may also set up a “low balance email reminder” which will notify you when the account is low. Making a credit card payment into your childs account will cost the user $1.95 per payment. Cash and check prepayments may be made at school. Checks should be made out to SCSN with the childs name and identification number on the memo line. All money collected for prepayments will be put in the students account to be used for breakfast, lunch and/or ala-carte. Parents who wish to set limits or restrictions on their childs account should contact their school cafeteria manager to activate this service. All balances at the close of the school year will remain in the childs account and be accessible to the student at the beginning of the following year. Students are encouraged to know their identification number and urged to not share this number with anyone.

About Student Balances

REMINDER - All money collected for prepayment of meals will be put in the student's account to be used for breakfast, lunch or ala-carte. Parents may indicate by note or on check whether breakfast or ala-carte items may not be purchased.
